WE SUPPORT THE SACHET ALCOHOL BAN

STAND WITH NAFDAC

Everyone wants change in Nigeria, yet no one wants to be part of anything to bring about the change. For every change we see in any society, right-thinking citizens of that society give their time, knowledge, network, and every resource at their disposal to bring about the change in that area.

Let me narrow this to the recent happening in Nigeria, which is about the ban of sachet alcoholic drinks in Nigeria, before NAFDAC announced the enforcement of the ban, many parents in the society as well as the right-thinking individuals and professionals have expressed concerns about the future of this great Nation Nigeria and her future generation without the control of this dangerous substance called sachet alcoholic drink.

The percentage of alcohol content in it, compared to other alcoholic drinks, the health implications to those who consume it ignorantly, the decline in our youth in schools, educational implications of the use of this substance, and the increase of addictions of all kinds- like hard drugs which are also associated to the consumption of alcoholic sachet drinks to mention as few of the havocs.

Recall the DG of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeleye announced the enforcement of the ban of alcoholic drinks in sachet and pet bottles below 200ml in line with the agreement reached by both NAFDAC, Ministry of Health, Distiller Association of Nigeria, MAN, and other interest groups about five years ago. 2024 comes, it is time to honor the agreement, and the distillers are going back on the agreement. Why? because what they are getting in terms of cash back at the detriment of the vulnerable in society has gotten into their mind, and this has prompted them to start creating protests across the nation.

To you out there, you know this substance is mainly used by our teenagers and youths because it is cost-effective, as a matter of fact, it’s cheaper than the sachet pack of juice and when our children can’t afford juice that is sold between ₦150 to ₦200, they will go for the sachet alcohol which is sold between ₦100, or less. All of us Nigerian parents, right-thinking individuals and professionals, and interest groups have been asking ourselves what can we do to stop this in our society, today, I put it to you that the government through her agency NAFDAC, headed by a mother, professional, a true Nigerian, a right-thinking member of the society, Prof Mojiola Adeleye, has taken upon to enforce the ban, they will need you, myself and somebody beside you and behind you to stand with NAFDAC to get rid of this dangerous substance away from our street, and out of the hands of our teenagers and youths who we generally agreed are the future of this Nation.

Fellow Nigerians, I urge you to rise up with Nigeria, NAFDAC, prof Mojisola Adeleye to tell the NASS that we demand a ban on this dangerous substance in our society. Remember if we don’t do this, we will be held responsible for cooperating with evil and selfish individuals with the aim to destroy society and make money. Today, NASS has already asked NAFDAC to suspend the enforcement of the ban agreement reached over five years, who knows what next. Our voices are needed in the NASS, we urge you to click this link and join the conversation so we can let NASS know they represent us, as this is what we want. Don’t forget their argument of job loss, yes like they claim 500,000 jobs, but either ban or not in the next three years from now, packaging will become the job of AI and the jobs will still go. Let us go ahead of this evil and unreasonable person in society to put a stop else, no one will be happy with the NASS decision in the days to come.

Thank you and God bless you.

AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS, WHAT NEXT?

In our last conversation, we see righteousness as a non-negotiable quality of transformational or visionary leaders, similar to what we will be discussing today. Transformational or visionary leaders view their impact beyond their time in office or lifetime, and their decisions are focused on future generations.
Today, we will look at EMPAHTY as a non-negotiable quality of a leader. What is empathy?
