Everyone will tell you that Nigeria is on the verge of breaking because of the numerous problems facing us as a nation. We stand at a critical crossroads, grappling with a myriad of challenges from ethics to religion and entrenched interest groups known as Cabals.
However, most people who talk about this problem or the solution never take the time to go deeper into the root cause, while the few people who have done so are not ready to engage in intelligent civil discussions about it rather they are exploring the facts for their gain, using it to negotiate for political offices and relevance at the detriment of the populace.
It’s time to shift the narrative.
One of the facts of root causes of the problem we are facing is our founding fathers who were brainwashed against themselves that they would only succeed if they led or were governed by their people and that their relevance would come if they kept their their people uninformed because an educated populace will threaten their position and relevance, in so doing they had to create a force that will be used to secure themselves against the people they are leading or governing.
They understood that if the populace gets to the point of being able to critically analyze information, there won’t be room for slick politicians and unethical media.
Looking at our political structure and politicians, especially in the last general election, our voting results reflect that those campaign electives rely on religion, and tribe and negotiate with a voice in areas where their religion and tribe didn’t cover.
As Nigerians, we need to come together and arm ourselves with basic knowledge of the history of Nigeria and be ready to take away religion, and ethics and be able to put on the table the future of Nigeria and the unborn Nigerians. It’s time to rise above these divisions and focus on shaping a better future for all Nigerians, transcending narrow interests.
In conclusion, let me point you to the alarming statistics from UNICEF which paint a grim picture, with millions of children out of school annually. This cycle of poverty must end.
Friends is it not time for us to come together and discuss Nigeria intelligently in a civil manner? A person who is not educated, what contribution is he going to make to a nation’s development and security?
With millions of children out of school and a high poverty rate, the urgency for united action is clear. It’s time to have intelligent, civil discussions about Nigeria’s future.
