Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is….
The greatest crisis the world is facing today is the lack of understanding about what we are called to do. More than that we lack the will to seek appropriate knowledge to deliver our mandate in fear of God and love for humanity. Although sometimes we do not accept this, as we believe that leadership is the greatest problem in the world.
However, we forget that leadership itself is a calling. The scripture says in 1 Corinth 12:28 God gave some grace to organize government, why others were given the gift of healing and working of miracles etc.
Leadership is so important to God to the extent that God admonished everyone to pray to him for leaders who are in authority so that everyone can live a peaceful life. But more than that, God uses leaders in positions to organize civil societies in other to prevent anarchy. Rom 13:1-7
A lot of time, people do not see leadership or their professions as a calling or assignment from God, so they don’t have the mind of giving account to God on how they dispense their duties. As a result, there is no sense of accountability, everyone chooses to operate as he wishes. They do not see themselves as God’s representative in such positions or offices.
Recall that the scripture says, we are Christ’s ambassadors. As such, every one of us as believers must know and understand this truth, that God sees us as His extension to organize the civil societies, and govern His people and we are expected to give an account of our stewardship to him. This is the UNDERSTANDING that is lacking among those in leadership positions today that is making them see themselves as their own god.
Bringing this to our Nations today, you will discover that some few people you can trace development to in their leadership tenure are those who have a God-fearing foundation, that believes there is life after death, and their lives are owned and controlled by higher and supreme authority- God.
This is what every aspiring leader who is eyeing any leadership position should know if the change they are clamoring for will be visible. We must think deeply to chose those who will represent us at all levels of government, if they don’t lay this to heart to submit to God’s authority and governance in the fear of God and love for humanity, their coming to leadership position will not improve anything rather, it will worsen the present situation of our Nation.
In conclusion, I will ask every one of us that are complaining of bad leadership, can you provide good leadership? Whose authority have you submitted to? Is God’s love shared abroad in your heart? Don’t forget, we need a platform to develop leadership capacity so we can become effective leaders that are needed for today’s world.
