It has become obvious that we live in a nation that is not driven by a common ideology, philosophy, principle, and values but driven by ignorance, selfishness, sentiment, greed, and nepotism.
A nation where image, name, and influence are placed above the structures put in place, where the majority of the citizens are in power for selfish reasons rather than maintaining posterity.
A nation that the citizens don’t believe in, and as such, without hesitation have dual citizenship in another nation. This has become a common denominator for all, whether poor, average, or wealthy.
This mindset has resulted in the highest neglect of our common heritage as a nation, it has become a situation where our representatives don’t regard our interest rather they fight for the portfolio that cannot make any impact.
With the just concluded Primaries, we have suddenly shifted our focus from important matters like security and insurgency to trivial political parties matters, we have begun to clamor for offices that are only relevant in case of an eventuality.
Friends, ignorance, and poor knowledge of the operations of our law and constitution have beclouded us, some presidential aspirants with intention of winning the general election came into the race less than four years to the election, while others change parties like wrapper, some of which parties have not been able to win Councillorship election in any local government for the past 8 to 12yrs, no representative in the lower and upper house and governors’ forum who can channel their cause in terms of policy voting, yet, want to win election to become president of the nation and unfortunately, a lot of us are not so enlightened to ask questions or be analytical, just feel we need change irrespective of how prepared we are for it, forgetting that CHANGE COMES WITH A PRICE.
Friends, ignorance, and naivety will not get us the desired change, it will be self-deception and sheer waste of time if we are not able to run a background check and find the man/woman of principle, value, and the right Ideology to rule us. We shouldn’t run after people who use one political party to rise to prominence and could not spread the ideology of the party, rather, decamp and keep looking for opportunities with empty words.
Lastly, I would like to encourage all of us youths of this nation, not to allow emotion to push us backward, let’s call ourselves to order and work hard to develop a structure so we don’t jump from frying pan to fire especially when it comes to who represents us.
…..”It is time for us to make our choice in one voice, act on how we choose, so we can live”.
Let us get a person of value, and principle, with the right ideology and vision who has developed a structure over the years, not a man who gets the platform of a political party to play on our emotions and intelligence as we saw in the 2015 general election.
We need a person who can proffer solutions to the impending problems in our dear nation.
Let us make the RIGHT CHOICE in order not to face DIRE CONSEQUENCES for another 4 years!
